Grease Trap
Grease Trap
When grease in large grease-laden wastes mix with cold sewage in the mains, causing the grease to congeal and adhere to the solids. By the time, the sewage has reached the treatment plan, thorough mixing of grease and solids has occurred. Since bacterial action on grease is slow, it does not decompose readily and is carried through the plant, affecting the operations at many points, depending on the type of treatment. These grease interceptors are used in restaurants and institutional kitchens and all types of food handling and processing areas where wastewater contains fats, oil, and grease. Adequate top space must be available for removal of cover in case of manual cleaning.
For designing the size of Oil / Grease Interceptors, consult PDI-G101 or ASME A112.14.3 OR CAN/CSA-B481 SERIES-07

At ALPINE the manufacturing process adheres to Canadian standard CAN/CSA-B481 SERIES-07. Built of all-welded heavy-duty fabricated steel plate for maximum structural strength and durability, high volume, incorporating a removable cover of heavy-duty steel plate for on-the-floor or partially recessed installation, or non-skid tread plate cover for flush with-floor installation suitable for pedestrian traffic (or reinforced for industrial traffic), internal air relief, visible double trap and flow control fittings (optional). The cover is secured to the body with recessed Stainless steel bolts including an extra heavy leak-proof gasket and removable separating screen for easy cleaning. Standard No hub inlet and outlet. An integrated solid interceptor is optional (for improving efficiency).
Another option is manufacturing in Cast Iron, too.
Flow Control Device
Flow control fittings as a useful part are furnished with all ALPINE Grease Interceptors and Separators at an added cost. These devices govern the flow rate to the interceptor or separator being used, thereby assuring the maximum retention of the material being intercepted and improving efficiency.
How to Size a Trap.?
To determine the optimum size of the converter to be used, account must be taken of the volume of fixtures discharging into the interceptor. Use the table beside to calculate the total volume in cubic inches by entering the quantity of each fixture, multiplying by the volume shown, and entering as Total Volume; finally, add up your answer in GPM.
